On the Friday night of San Francisco Pride, Groundswell is throwing a special soiree and fundraiser, a Midsummer Night’s Revel. This fundraiser and festival will help you start Pride right with glamour, gaiety, and some very gauche gowns.

banda-sin-nombre-midsummer-revelThis isn’t your typical Pride party, and that’s why you want to come. We are bringing you a night filled with melodies and magic, as Latinx inspired folk musicians, Banda Sin Nombre, headline the night and seduce you to swaying and sensuality on the dancefloor. Shane Zaldivar will be sharing the stage with Banda Sin Nombre. It is not the first time these artists collaborate! This incredibly talented performer, originally from Florida, is an up and coming star of the San Francisco drag scene. Shane‘s androgynous, seductive, and sometimes spooky style is unique and amazing to watch, besides being the performers own art-therapy… don’t miss out! Plus, a fashion runway and contest, our Fashion Fierce-Off, cap off the night, inviting each of you and some of the most talented fashion qweens in the city to strut their stuff.

Our goal is to bring you a faerie tale evening that will start your summer with succulence.

faerie-fashion-midsummer-revelOur Fashion Fierce-Off invites all to show off their glamour and glitz. What looks do you truly revel in? Come dressed up or dressed down. Prizes will include gift certificates to Groundswell Institute programs and other treats.

While we will have music to keep the dancing going throughout the night, our main attraction, Banda Sin Nombre, will get your booty swinging and swaying in ways electronic music never can. This five-piece street band from San Francisco’s Mission District is dedicated to performing folk music from around the world. Mixing rich vocal harmonies with acoustic instruments including guitar, fiddle, charango, cajon, and bass, the band’s inspirations range from Peruvian Chicha to Catalan Rumba and Appalachian old time to Cumbia.

All proceeds benefit Groundswell Institute, your nonprofit queer retreat center dedicated to helping you live healthier, fuller lives, while giving you the tools to truly create change in the world.

This is the perfect way to start your Pride festivities: come out to Revel with your community while supporting a nonprofit that is strengthening local LGBTQ communities. Help us grow Groundswell and our ability to affect change. You’ll have a queerly good time doing it.
